Christian Salvage Mission had its beginning in 1994 in a garage in the town of Beamsville Ontario. Pastor Lauren and Dorothy Redinger, who had recently retired from the pastorate, having a considerable library gave some thought as how they could best dispose of it. Having knowledge of a ministry in Fowlerville Michigan, which was collecting used evangelical books for overseas ministries, they decided to box up their books and take them over to Michigan. Lauren and Dorothy were keenly aware there was a lot of material laying dormant on shelves in many churches and personal libraries that was needed by those in third world nations. They began to collect and sort these materials in their garage that folk began to donate. |

As Canadian Christians became aware there was a place to dispose of their excess Bibles and books, they began to take them to the garage in Beamsville. Lauren would sort and box them up for delivery to Christian Resources International [CRI] in Michigan. By 2000, the volume of materials being taken to Michigan had increased to the point where CRI suggested that we begin our own ministry here in Canada. |

In the spring of 2001, a warehouse was leased from Language Recordings for a three year period in Hamilton and our first container was shipped to a Bible College in Romania that fall. As the ministry continued to grow and the three year term of our lease was nearing completion, it became obvious that larger facilities were needed. |

The Lord provided us the opportunity to purchase unit 3 in the same building at 120 Lancing Drive in Hamilton. Our new premises gave us the ability to expand the ministry to include a resource center where visiting missionaries may browse through shelves of books to take without charge books that will enhance their ministry. These resources are also available to those folk who are involved in short term mission trips to take with them. Since the inception of this ministry in 1994, hundreds of tons of material has been collected, sorted and shipped to the Glory of God. This has been done in response to requests from indigenous ministries, mission agencies, Bible students and individuals. Beside the materials that are picked up from the resource center, the bulk of that which is sent out is done by sea containers, mail bags and 2 kg packages. This ministry has been made possible by many faithful Christian men and women who voluntarily give of their time to be a blessing to those that have little or nothing in other lands. |
