The ministry of the Christian Salvage Mission began in the spring
of 1994 when newly retired Pastor Lauren and Dorothy Redinger
started collecting and sorting used Evangelical Christian Literature in
their 2 car garage.
During their years of ministry they became aware of the many thousands of good Christian resources gathering dust on Canadian book shelves. Knowing the great need of those who are serving our Lord in third world nations, who have very little if any materials to study or work with, they felt the leading of the Lord to start this ministry.
During the early years almost all of the sorted materials were transported by
truck to Christian Resources International located in Fowlerville Michigan, for shipping
overseas. As the rate of materials coming in increased, it became apparent
that a warehouse operation of our own was needed. It was a notable day in May of
2001 when CSM moved into their rented quarters in unit 6 at 120 Lancing Drive in
Hamilton, and began shipping directly to overseas missions and ministries. The
ministry of the mission grew tremendously over the following 3 years to the point
where it became necessary to move into a larger facility. We were able to purchase
Unit 3 in the same building which became available in late fall of 2003, after renovations
we moved the whole operation in and began shipping from our own facility.
Many sea containers holding over 32,000 pounds of books each, have been sent out to various countries in support of Ministries, Missions and Bible Schools. Hundreds of smaller packages are sent out each year in answer to requests from Pastors, Bible Students and others that write for a Bible or book. To God be the Glory.
It is noteworthy that every worker with CSM is a volunteer, including the leadership personnel. It has been necessary to hire an Office Administrator who works in the office Monday to Thursday to take care of the many details that are coming our way. The warehouse is open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 4 pm to receive materials. There are many volunteers, spread around the province, who work as area coordinators working among their area churches. These dedicated volunteers account for the many tons of materials consistently coming into the warehouse.
We are grateful for all that stand with us financially, without faithful partners, very little could be accomplished. CSM sends all materials free of charge.
Please join us as we press on for the Glory of God.
